Inductor Introduction
An inductor is a circuit component that generates electromotive force due to changes in current, thereby resisting changes in current. This characteristic is called inductance.
Inductors come in many forms, and are called differently depending on their appearance and function. Multi-turn inductors made of enameled wire are often called coils, and are often used in electromagnets and transformers. Components that provide greater impedance to high frequencies and allow DC or low frequencies to pass through are called chokes or chokes. Large inductors made of ferromagnetic materials, often installed in transformers, motors, and generators, are called windings. If the wire passes through a magnetic substance and is not in a coil shape, it is often used as a small inductor for high-frequency filtering, called a bead.
Inductors mainly refer to components that use self-inductance as their main working mode. Other components that mainly use electromagnetic coils, such as transformers and motors, are usually not called inductors.
In spoken language, inductors are often referred to as inductors, but if referring to specific objects, they should still be called inductors.
Main technical parameters of inductor
Inductance: Also known as the self-inductance coefficient (L), it indicates the self-inductance of the inductor. The units of L are H (henry), mH (millihenry) and μH (microhenry), and the conversion relationship is 1H = 1000mH = 1,000,000μH.
Quality factor: A parameter that indicates the quality of an inductor, also known as the Q value. The higher the Q value, the smaller the circuit loss and the higher the efficiency.
Distributed capacitance: The capacitance between coil turns, coil and ground or shielding box is called distributed capacitance. Its existence will increase the equivalent loss resistance and reduce the Q value.
Rated current: refers to the maximum working current allowed to pass through the coil for a long time.
Stability: refers to the degree to which parameters are affected by temperature, humidity and mechanical vibration.
